Welcome to Fourth Grade Math

New Math Books Never write anything in the book. Be careful when turning pages. If your book is damaged when you turn it back in, it will cost you $75.

Daily Classroom Activities Everything we learn in class, you need to know for the future. We will be doing whole-group lessons, notes in journals, partner activities, and individual practice. There is a reason for everything that we do in math class!

Daily Homework Activities Each night you will have questions to take home and answer for practice. Homework is so that you will not forget what you learned in math class that day. Practice makes perfect! Homework is not punishment! It is an opportunity to prove what you know!

Testing Tests are not given just so you can get a grade for it. Tests are an opportunity for you to prove that you have learned new things! Unit tests will be every 7-10 days. Quizzes will be every week. Some tests will be on the computer. TCAP counts 15% of your grade this year!

Grading Policy / Make-Up Assignments Assignments must be turned in when they are due. In-class assignments are due that day. Homework is due the following day. Make-up assignments are due 3 days after you return to school. You will lose 5 points per day if your assignments are late!

Extra Credit / Correcting Assignments There are no extra credit opportunities in 4 th grade math. If you make below an 80% on any assignment in math class, you may correct it for a higher grade. You must do this without me asking you to! Parents must sign all assignments with grades below an 80%.

NWEA Tests These tests are used to show how much you have learned throughout the year. Always do your best on these tests! We will set goals for the math tests this year.

What’s Most Important? Always try your best. Always do your best work. Never half do anything. Never! If you don’t have time to do it right, you must have time to do it over! Learn & remember many new important things for the future. Enjoy math class!
