NCAA Requirements There are very specific requirements for college athletes. It is your responsibility to make sure that you are eligible for Divisions I, II, or III. NCAA requirements are posted on the school website. You may be CSU/UC Eligible and not qualified for NCAA. Be aware that online courses may not meet NCAA eligibility requirements.

Personal Learning Plan Worksheet Use your personal learning plan to map out your classes for high school.

Review Transcript Check for accuracy: Make sure that all courses you have taken are listed Repeated courses should have the word “repeated” next to them with zero credits in the credit column. If repeated courses are not identified on your transcript, please circle them on your transcript and give it to your counselor. Check the Graduation Requirements box in the bottom left corner of your transcript: Review the courses still required for graduation (courses in which you are currently enrolled are still listed in the needed column.) When you pass those courses in May, they will be transferred to the completed column. The courses that remain are the ones that you will need to register for on your registration form. If there is an error, don’t panic- it can be fixed. Bring it to your counselor during open office hours

Course Registration Form

Course Selection Requirements Course Registration forms are DUE on February 1st , February 2nd, February 8th and February 9th when you meet with your counselor during your English period on block days. All forms must be completed, reviewed and signed by you and a parent or guardian. Students who turn in forms without parent signatures will be enrolled in electives last and may lose priority placement. The registration form is a request for courses. Every effort will be made to place you in your first choice classes. You will be scheduled into alternative classes if your first choices are not available.

Online Course Selection DEADLINE: February 7th Step 1: Online Course Registration Fill out your course selection sheet (green) and then enter your 1st choice courses online Log on to your PowerSchool Parent portal Click on the “Class Registration” link under “Navigation” on the left side of the screen. You will be prompted to make course choices in each subject area and submit. If you don’t see your course choice or don’t know what to select for a specific course, make a selection that is close. Counselors will be meeting with your student to review final choices and counselors can make changes at that time.

Mid Term Grads Students who have earned a minimum of 190 credits at the beginning of their senior year may qualify to earn their diploma at the end of the first semester. Students interested in this option should obtain a Mid-Year Graduation form from their counselors during registration week.

Post High School Objective In order to plan well for next year, it is wise to know what your plan will be after high school. POST HIGH SCHOOL OBJECTIVE (please indicate one choice for your plan after you graduate)  4 Year College/ University  Community College  Vocational School  Work  Military  Other ___________________

Zero Period Option A zero period class starts at 7:00 am. If you choose this option, one of your courses may be scheduled zero period. Zero period courses have not been determined at this time You are responsible for transportation to class and you are expected to remain in this class for the entire school year. Check the box on your form if you want to be considered for a zero period class.

Open Periods Open period options – 180 credits for 4 period day, 170 credits for 5 period day and must pass all courses!

An ELECTIVE is any class that is not required for graduation and does not meet a graduation subject requirement. Spanish 2, AP Calculus, a third year of Fitness, German 3, Drawing and Painting 2, AP Chemistry are all examples of electives. None of these classes are required to earn a diploma from FHS.

Electives Choose electives that might have some connection to a career in which you are interested. The purpose of taking these courses is to prepare you for your next level of education, not just to get credits so that you can get out of high school.

Advanced Placement/Honors Selection It is highly recommended that a student’s GPA is a 3.0 or higher GPA for AP/Honors courses AP/Honors courses are open to all students who meet the prerequisites Select only AP/Honors courses you really want on registration form All students enrolled in AP/Honors courses will be required to complete a contract. You will not be able to request a change in your schedule after you have signed and submitted your contract.

Summer School Remedial Summer School: Can only repeat course if earned a D or F. VS Enrichment Summer School: Courses you have never taken before. Student MUST demonstrate an “impacted schedule” (all 6 classes are needed to meet graduation requirements, college entrance requirements, or pathway program) by submitting a complete 4 year plan All courses must be approved by your counselor Summer School Schedule: June 5th- June 30th at Cordova High School (8-2:30)

Course Registration Form Reminders Course Registration Form and Online Selection must be completed before you meet for your 1:1! Make sure you have completed the appropriate pre-requisites in for the courses you choose. All requests for TA’s, Sports Specific Training, and Advanced Conditioning MUST BE SIGNED by appropriate person

Student Request Form / Schedule Changes District Policy: A student who drops a course after the first two weeks of the semester shall receive an F grade on his/her permanent record. (cf. 5125-Student Records)

Schedule Distribution Students will be able to access their schedule through PowerSchool before school starts. If there is an error with your schedule, you must inform your counselor so the error can be corrected. All schedule changes will be completed the week before school starts. Courses will be selected for the ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR and in most cases, schedule changes are not permitted after school starts.
