As a class, we will combat the Great Depression, the 20th Century world wars with the development of America as an international power, and the development of economic, social, political, and cultural change into the 21st Century. You will be viewing, analyzing, and interpreting periods in United States history from various perspectives, including historical, geographical, political, economic, and cultural. Together, these perspectives can help you to understand how the past has led to our present and to appreciate your role in shaping our future. A notebook will house you daily bell ringers, commonly referred to as an Essential Question or “EQ.” The instructor reserves the right to deal with specific late work and make-up work issues on a case by case basis. The general rules that will apply are as follows: If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to get your missing items from the teacher, and turn them in within 3 days. NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED There will be extra credit provided on tests and quizzes. There will also be several after school extra credit assignments that may be completed for the replacement of a missing assignment. 3-Ring Binder with loose leaf paper Highlighters and pencils are required for class. We will learn about the growth of nationalism after the American Revolution with the birth of the nation, and the eventual shift in sectionalism alongside the emergence of powerful political parties. We will end the course with Reconstruction after the American Civil War. We will be studying the cultural, social., political, and economic issues and will analyze those problems through historical assessments and evaluations. Most book work assigned will be done at HOME so leave your textbook at your house unless otherwise notified.
