Advanced 7th Grade Math In this class, we will be working hard and having fun! Each student will have a personal goal for improvement, and we will work collaboratively to help each other meet them. We will develop a conceptual understanding of our units, and how they apply to our every day lives and the world around us. Amanda Gates Buidling 1 Room 228 Tuesdays 2:45-3:45 Please ensure you have adequate transportation Module 1: The Real Number System Module 2: Solving Equations Module 3: Linear Equations Module 4: Linear Functions Module 5: Probability and Bivariate Data Module 6: Sampling of Populations Module 7: Geometric Figures Module 8: Area, Volume and Surface Area Module 9: Angles and Pythagorean Theorum Module 10: Transformations More information will be available on the class website for each module as the course progresses. 80% SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS (TESTS, QUIZZES, AND PROJECTS) 20% - FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS (HOMEWORK AND CLASSWORK) LATE WORK: Late work will be accepted for half credit for up to 3 days after the original due date. This is to ensure that grades can be updated in a timely manner, and so that students are focusing on current assignments. RETAKE POLICY: Students will have the ability to retake one assessment at the end of each quarter. ABSENTEE POLICY: For excused absences, students will have the number of days absent plus two (2) to complete and hand in work for credit. Exceptional circumstances should be brought to the principal for advisement. While homework is a small part of the overall grade, it is assigned so that students will be prepared for the assessments, which are 80% of the grade. MY RESPONSIBILITIES AS YOUR TEACHER: Treat you with respect and care as an individual Offer quality instruction Create a positive learning environment Enforce fairness Give my best effort each day YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS STUDENTS: Treat the teacher and peers with respect and care Actively participate by following directions Collaborate respectfully and fulfill your group role Engage in academic honesty Give your best effort each day, and help others to do so as well BATHROOM PROCEDURE: Students will raise 2 fingers (peace sign) and sign out at the door. Please do not ask to leave during whole-group instruction unless it is an emergency. MISSED HOMEWORK: Students will fill out a “Homework ticket” and turn that in in lieu of their homework. UNPREPARED FOR CLASS: Students are encouraged to ask groupmates to borrow supplies, if possible. If none are available, the student may request to borrow from the supply center.
