HAPPY WEDNESDAY G1 computer 1. Lay out your notecards (definition side up) on your desk 3x4 + 2, “1. Response” needs to be top left card. 2. Bellwork Journals: Oxytocin is a hormone that intensifies the contractions that take place during childbirth. The stretching of the uterus triggers the secretion of oxytocin, which stimulates uterine contractions. These contractions further stretch the uterus, which cause the secretion of more oxytocin and speeds up labor. After reading the statement answer the following questions and answer in your bellwork journals. Name 1 system that is interacting for this process to happen: ______________________ Name another system that is interacting for this process to happen: ___________________ Is this an example of a positive (same) or negative (opposite) feedback loop: ______________________

An example of a feedback mechanism in humans would be the increase in heart rate and respiratory rate which occurs in response to increased exercise or other increased muscle cell activity After reading the statement answer the following questions and answer in your bellwork journals. Name 1 system that is interacting for this process to happen: ______________________ Name another system that is interacting for this process to happen: ___________________ Is this an example of a positive (same) or negative (opposite) feedback loop: ______________________

How do the body systems work together in a functional human organism? Essential Question   How do the body systems work together in a functional human organism? Standard B.10A - describe the interactions that occur among systems that perform the functions of regulation, nutrient absorption, reproduction, and defense from injury or illness in animals PG 40

PG 40 System Organs/Parts Function(s) Part 1 You will need a piece of paper. Number your paper 1- 10 and label exactly like this. Match the System (yellow card), with the Organs/Parts (green card), with the correct functions (blue card). I will check it only ONE time. Copy down the correct answers. Part 2 Number your paper 1-6. Use the chart and fill in the 2 systems that interact for each scenario. Look below for example. You may repeat systems. System Organs/Parts Function(s) Circulatory Respiratory Muscular Skeletal Digestive Nervous Endocrine Reproductive Integumentary 10. Immune Scenarios Body System #1 Body System #2 Number Page 1-6. Pick a body system. PG 40
