Overview on the National Policy/Strategy Provide the information about the establishment of a National Policy and Strategy for E&T in radiation, transport and waste safety First of all you should initially clarify /address: Type/scope of the document: policy document (general document providing the umbrella for the future development of the strategy), or a strategy document (with the 4 steps presented and expanded), or a policy and strategy as well Note: to have a better understand on what it is meant for policy and strategy, please refer to draft safety report series, specifically to section 2.3 for the policy, and sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 for the strategy) Presentation on why and how the National Policy and Strategies were established is the most RELEVANT part of your presentation: You can expand as much as you want but keeping the total duration of the presentation within 20 min

Overview on the National Policy/Strategy In providing an overview of the document policy/strategy please address the points below (when feasible/ appropriate) In case of Policy Goal of the Policy ….. Overview on the organizations (stakeholders) that were involved: __________ (lead organization) Other organizations (stakeholders) Steering Committee / Working groups …. Role of Regulatory Authority Role of the Training Centre Categories of personnel concerned How was the policy formalized? Add slides if necessary

Overview on the National Policy/Strategy In providing an overview of the document policy/strategy please address the points below (when feasible/ appropriate) In case of Strategy Provide an overview about the 4 steps of the Strategy: 1. Analysis of the E&T needs ….(including methodology to evaluate needs, source of information for current facilities and activates, and current available qualified personnel)

Overview on the National Policy/Strategy 2. Design of the National Education and Training Programme (NETP) .. ..(e.g. courses to be organized: in which area and for which category of personnel)

Overview on the National Policy/Strategy 3. Development and Implementation of the National Education and Training Programme (NETP) .. .. (e.g. Courses organized Training material developed Criteria established (for syllabi, for trainers, for training providers) New regulations or other documents that were developed Courses/training that was outsourced (IAEA ?) )

Overview on the National Policy/Strategy 4. Evaluation of the National Education and Training Programme (NETP) …. As far as I know the 4th step (has not been fully developed yet (am I correct?) If this is the case please explain what are the plans/approached that were envisaged to evaluate the NETP (for example: Feedback from participants Feedback from participants ‘ supervisors Feedback from inspections in the facilities after training provided Impact on national radiation safety infrastrctures (reduction of doses.. safety culture.. ?) Interface with evaluation mechanisms as from ISO 29990 performance indicators external review e.g. EduTA, etc.)

Overview on the National Policy/Strategy Results and Achievements Provide an overview about the main benefits from the development of the National Policy and Strategy

Way Forward Provide an overview about the next steps after the establishment of the National Strategy , for example: Policy document still to be approved by a relevant authority/stakeholder Validation of the E&T needs analysis in the strategy Update of the National Education and Training Programme (1. new training needs analysis.. 2. Design of new courses…., 3. Development of new training material.. .. ) Formalization of documents Development of the 4th step: Evaluation of the National Education and Training Programme National Strategy Add any other future step you consider relevant ………

Conclusions Provide a final comment about your experience in establishing a policy and strategy for education and training in radiation, transport and waste safety
