Saying it is a shortcut! Direct Object Pronouns are used to shorten your answers to questions so they are less wordy. Direct Object Pronouns are used to shorten your answers to questions so they are less wordy. * Direct Object Pronouns receive the action of the verb and replace nouns in a sentence. * DOPs MUST agree in gender (masculine / feminine) & number (singular / plural) with the nouns they replace. * DOPS come just BEFORE the conjugated verb OR may be ATTACHED to an infinitive.

…and the DOPs are… me me nos us te you you (singular, familiar) lo him, it, you him, it, you (singular, polite, masculine) la her, it, you (singular, polite, feminine) os you you (plural, familiar) los them, you them, you (plural, polite, masculine) las them, you them, you (plural, polite, feminine)

Por ejemplo… * Remember that DOPs go BEFORE a conjugated verb OR can be ATTACHED to an infinitive. to copy Are you going to copy the notes in class? to copy Yes, I am going to copy them. En Español por favor… copiar ¿Vas a copiar los apuntes en clase? copiar Sí, los voy a copiar. OROR copiar Sí, voy a copiarlos.

Try these out yourself… Decide on a DOP: 1. Miro las vitrinas. 2. ¿Tomas el metro? 3. Conozco el restaurante. 4. Do I know you? las lo te Rewrite the sentences with the DOP: 1. Las miro. 5. ¿Van Uds. a entregar la tarea? la 2. Sí, lo tomo. 3. Lo conozco. 4. ¿Te conozco? 5. La vamos a entregar. Vamos a entregarla.
