4 ❏ Like English,the direct object noun is placed after the conjugated verb. ❏ Unlike English, the direct object pronoun is placed directly before the conjugated verb. Quiero la camisa.La quiero. I want the shirt.I want it.

5 1.Placed before the conjugated verb. Los quiero comprar. I want to buy them. 1.Attached to the infinitive. Quiero comprarlos. I want to buy them. When an infinitive follows the conjugated verb, the direct object pronoun can be: Quiero comprar los zapatos. conjugated verbinfinitive

6 1.Identify the direct object. Who or what receives the action of the verb? 2.Is it: masculine or feminine? Singular or plural? 1st, 2nd, or 3rd person? 3.Select the correct direct object pronoun based on #2. 4.Eliminate the direct object noun and replace it with the appropriate direct object pronoun. *You may have to change the placement* Putting It All Together

7 ❏ Sarita y Guido comparten el libro. They share the book. ❏ Quiero la bolsa bonita. I want the pretty purse. ❏ Voy a comer la pizza. I’m going to eat the pizza. ❏ ¡No quiero tomar el examen! I don’t want to take the exam. ❏ Necesitamos leer las instrucciones. We need to read the instructions. ¡A practicar! Re-write each sentence substituting the D.O. noun with the D.O. pronoun. Sarita y Guido lo comparten. La quiero. Voy a comerla. La voy a comer. ¡No lo quiero tomar! ¡No quiero tomarlo! Necesitamos leerlas. Las necesitamos leer.
