4 Examples They saw me. Ellos me vieron. She kissed him. Ella lo besó. Notice that the pronoun comes before a conjugated verb.

8 You may use a noun phrase at the end of the sentence to clarify a 3 rd person indirect object pronoun. Le di la maleta a ella. I gave the suitcase to her. Les escribimos la carta a Uds. We wrote the letter to you.

9 A direct or indirect object pronoun may also be attached on to a present participle or an infinitive. Está besándome. (accent on the “a”) He is kissing me. Estás escribiéndoles. (accent on the “e”) You are writing to them. Voy a leerla. I am going to read it.

10 Special Rule If you have both a direct and indirect object pronoun the indirect one comes first. You gave it to me. Tú me lo diste. indirect direct

11 However, a 3rd person indirect object pronoun in front of a 3rd person direct object pronoun will change to “se”. Le or Les in front of Lo, La, Los, Las becomes Se Incorrect – Yo le lo di. ( I gave it to him) Incorrect – Yo le lo di. ( I gave it to him) Correct – Yo se lo di. Correct – Yo se lo di. Incorrect – Juan les la mandó. ( Juan sent it to them) Incorrect – Juan les la mandó. ( Juan sent it to them) Correct – Juan se la mandó. Correct – Juan se la mandó.
