Introduction Menu Introduction NEST Banner 25Live Degree Works Recruiter TouchNet ODS and Cognos Test Your Knowledge The Student Lifecycle Next Steps Welcome to A-Z of Montclair Student and Campus Systems! Now that you are a Montclair State University employee, it may be necessary for you to familiarize yourself with some of the student and campus systems. Your role will determine the systems you will use. Consult with your manager to get guidance in this area. You can also use the learning path on the Student Systems’ Classroom Events page as a guide to the systems that you will be using and the training classes you should sign up for. Review the Learning Path. Purpose of This Course This course will provide a quick breakdown of the many applications that provides services to Montclair State employees and students on a daily basis. Format of This Course This course consists of eight modules and a short quiz. Each module covers five or six topics. The topics are brief so you should be able to go through the course quickly. You can go in any order you choose. You are encouraged to review the applications that are most relevant to your role. How to Begin To begin the course, select the "Next" button at the bottom of the screen. Alternatively, you can navigate to any slide by using the "Menu" button in the top right corner of every slide. Module 1: The Student Lifecycle Menu Introduction NEST Banner 25Live Degree Works Recruiter TouchNet ODS and Cognos Test Your Knowledge The Student Lifecycle Next Steps Select the icons in clockwise order Graduation Once a student has met requirements for their degree they will graduate. Student systems involved: Banner Degree Works 6 Grading and Evaluation Throughout their time here students will be graded and evaluated on performance. The student systems involved in this process include: Banner Degree Works 5 Degree Audit and Advising Student receives academic advising to help foster their intellectual and personal development toward academic success and lifelong learning. Students will use their degree audit to track their progress towards their degree. Student systems involved include: Banner Degree Works 4 Recruitment and Enrollment Student is recruited and enrolls. The student systems that are involved include: Recruiter Banner Banner Document Management Degree Works TouchNet 1 Registers for Classes Student registers for classes. Introduction NEST Banner 25 Live Degree Works Recruiter TouchNet ODS and Cognos Test Your Knowledge The Student Lifecycle Next Steps Faculty, staff and students can access NEST instantly with their University NetIDs and passwords. You may need to request access for additional features to be added to your NEST portal. Some of these features will require training. First-time students must access NEST with their CWIDs and PINs the first time they log in. After paying their student deposit, first-time students can then sign up for their University NetID and password. After the students have registered their NetIDs, this becomes their primary login for NEST. If you need help using NEST check out our learning resources. Learning resources can be found on the Learning Resources web page. Users can also contact the IT Service Desk for assistance: 973-655-7971 or ITservicedesk@mail.montclair.edu Students Faculty Staff What is NEST used for? You can access NEST by going to montclair.edu/nest and logging in with your Univeristy NetID and password. NEST is the primary academic portal for Montclair State University. It is a single-sign on portal that provides access to many different student, faculty and staff applications. Students will use NEST for everything from registering for classes, accessing their degree audit, paying their tuition bill, accessing their financial aid information and more. Faculty will utilize NEST to view their class rosters, attendance verification and input grades at the end of the semester. Employees will have varying uses for NEST depending on their role. Employees can use NEST as the access point for applications such as Banner, 25 Live and Degree Works with more functionality being added as time goes on. Who uses NEST? Introduction NEST Banner 25Live Degree Works Recruiter TouchNet ODS and Cognos Test Your Knowledge The Student Lifecycle Next Steps Staff Faculty Students Learning resources can be found on the Learning Resources web page. Users can also contact the IT Service desk for assistance. You can call or email the IT Service desk at 973-655-7971 option 1 or itservicedesk@mail.montclair.edu respectively. There are two ways you can access Banner: Internet Native Banner (Banner INB) or Self-Service Banner (SSB). Both Banner INB and SSB can be accessed through NEST. Banner holds all data that relates to students, staff , faculty and alumni. By providing administrative and academic functions to manage data, Banner will assist the University in recording and maintaining data for students, employers and alumni. Students will use Banner to register for classes, pay bills, look up classes and view their schedule. Faculty/Faculty Advisors will use Banner to view class and advisee lists, view their schedules and look up general student information (advisors only). Employees will use Banner for a variety of purposes depending on their role. Generally, employees can use Banner to look up general student information, view academic transcripts, view student schedules, view holds and view registration history. Students and faculty are automatically given access to self-service Banner. Anyone needing access to Banner INB will need to take Banner Navigation training and then request access through SNOW. Do I need to request access to 25Live? Module 4: 25Live Menu Instructions: Select the question buttons to learn more. Introduction NEST Banner 25Live Degree Works Recruiter TouchNet ODS and Cognos Test Your Knowledge The Student Lifecycle Next Steps What is 25Live used for? 25Live is a fully online, campus-wide scheduling and calendaring solution. 25Live is used by all Montclair State University cohorts to book times, venues and resources on the web. If you need to book a room just log into 25Live and get a complete list of available rooms. This makes scheduling a room quick and easy. Employees do not need to request access to 25Live. Logging into 25Live only requires your University NetID and password. Students can schedule rooms through HawkSync. Students Faculty Employees You can access learning resources for 25Live at any time on our website. There are monthly training sessions that you can sign up for on the TTI website. You can access 25Live at any time by visiting the 25Live website or you can access 25Live through NEST. Who uses 25Live? Do I need to request access to 25Live? How do I access 25Live? What is Degree Works used for? Module 5: Degree Works Menu Instructions: Select the question buttons to learn more. Introduction NEST Banner 25Live Degree Works Recruiter TouchNet ODS and Cognos Test Your Knowledge The Student Lifecycle Next Steps What is Degree Works used for? Need help using Degree Works?: You can access learning resources for Degree Works at any time on our website. There are also training classes being offered that you can register for through the TTI website. Once you have been given access you can access Degree Works by logging into NEST. Students and faculty advisors are automatically given access to Degree Works. If you need access you can request it through SNOW. Degree Works is a comprehensive easy-to-use, web-based advising, transfer articulation and degree audit tool with the purpose of helping students progress towards their degree. The degree audit will list all of the student’s requirements including courses taken, courses currently being taken, skills assessment tests and transfer credits. It also has a ‘What If’ audit when considering changing majors, more timely degree certification, better retention and improved transfer recruitment. What is Recruiter used for? Module 6: Recruiter Menu Instructions: Select the question buttons to learn more. Introduction NEST Banner 25Live Degree Works Recruiter TouchNet ODS and Cognos Test Your Knowledge The Student Lifecycle Next Steps What is Recruiter used for? Contact Sony Rodriguez at rodriguezso@mail.Montclair.edu for help with using Recruiter. If your job requires you to use Recruiter you will be given access. If you need to request access please contact Sony Rodriguez at rodriguezso@mail.montclair.edu. Recruiter is used to identify ideal prospects and target them with the right messaging. The performance tracking and analysis tools are used to do the following: Increase completed applications and enrolled students Reach best fit students Reduce enrollment costs per student Track and analyze the performance of recruiting efforts and integrate with Banner. Introduction NEST Banner 25Live Degree Works Recruiter TouchNet ODS and Cognos Test Your Knowledge The Student Lifecycle Next Steps For staff who will be using TouchNet you can contact your manager for access to learning resources that are available. For students and authorized parents, grandparents or other persons you can contact the Office of Student Accounts. TouchNet can be accessed through NEST. Students are automatically given access to TouchNet and can authorize access to parents, grandparents or other persons. Staff members should speak to their manager regarding access. Staff Students Authorized parents, grandparents or other people TouchNet provides cashiering, payment plans, shopping cart and other required receivables management processes for the University. It is currently being used for the following: Tuition and Bill payments Payment plans New Student Deposits Student Housing Deposits Direct Deposit Account Setup for refunds For more information please visit the Office of Student Accounts website. What is ODS & Cognos used for? Module 8: ODS & Cognos Menu Instructions: Select the question buttons to learn more. Introduction NEST Banner 25 Live Degree Works Recruiter TouchNet ODS and Cognos Test Your Knowledge The Student Lifecycle Next Steps What is ODS & Cognos used for? You can view the University Reports User Guide at any time on our website. Training classes will be offered soon. After you have been given access to Cognos follow the instructions laid out in the user guide to start viewing reports. Yes! To request access, follow the instructions laid out in the Banner Access Request PDF. Staff ODS converts data into common business terms that can be understood by any departmental user. It has self-service reporting capabilities that users can access data easily and create the reports they need.
