Achieve through Belief What is the Sports Premium? The PE and sport premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils. The funding is provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport. Each school will receive £8,000 plus an extra £5 per pupil each year . In 2015/2016 St Chads received £8900 for the year and had £6220 carried over from the previous year. Our total amount was £15120. The money must only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools. How much did we spend in? 2015/2016 Our school had a total amount of £15120 to spend. We spent £12805 altogether in that financial year. We now have £2315 to carry on to the current financial year 2016-2017.

How the sports funding helped our children in 2015/16 Area of Focus Money Spent Impact Sustainability Curriculum Increase staff confidence and ability to teach dance as per identified needs on action plan.   Support and increase the effective delivery of PE lessons. Increase staff confidence and CPD in the delivery of football and multi-skills lessons. Raise and promote the profile of Sport across the school. Improve resources and increase the effectiveness of lessons. Competition To increase the number of competitive opportunities for pupils. £1090 Curriculum/sports coach costs £1858 installation of hall projector. £825 Curriculum/sports coach costs £181.54 Sportswear for Staff £1830.35 for equipment £500 for enrichment day to promote intra competitions. The quality of Dance lessons had a marked impact on pupils however not the desired impact on staff. This has been addressed in the 2016/2017 action plan. Helps to support and model the PE curriculum using multi-media. Increased level of participation of pupils during curriculum lessons. Children are taking part in after school clubs. Children have individual access to the equipment during lunch times. Calendar of sporting events put together throughout the year, including competitions & clubs on offer. Link to Primary School District Organisation. Opportunities planned for intra competition throughout the school (PE overview) Staff increased knowledge for future years. PE monitoring will take place in every key stage to support colleagues to continue to move practice forward (See 2016-2017 action plan). Equipment is in school to upkeep high level of activeness in lessons. Football is very popular with all children at St Chad’s. All children have their own class football and have the opportunity to participate at break and lunchtimes. How the sports funding helped our children in 2015/16 Continued… Area of Focus Money Spent Impact Sustainability Subject Leader Development   Support and develop PE co-ordinator in strategic management of PE. Extra-Curricular Raise profile of meeting health recommendations for pupils. Developments of lunchtime activities to ensure pupils are more physically active. Develop extra-curricular activities during lunch and after school. Raise profile of sporting achievements (Olympics) and School’s values £225 for supply costs covering PE lead during PE conference. £38.50 spent on taxi to free Change for Life event. £3270 spent on EYFS, KS1 and KS2 playground markings. £1371.23 spent on lunch and after school sporting activities. £480 spent on Athlete visit. Subject lead feels more confident in the overall running of the sports premium funding and leadership of subject. PE leader is actively leading action plan improvements and monitoring the impact in school. PE leader has an increased awareness of what the health recommendations are and are able to discuss how they are meeting these/ increasing what they are doing. Free equipment from event is promoting an active lifestyle during break times. Pupils take part in activities during lunch times. Children have extra-curricular opportunities during lunch times. Promotion of extra-curricular opportunities due to taster sessions experienced during enrichment days. New PE subject lead under training to strategically continue to move the school forward in terms of PE and the spending of sports premium. An improved attitude towards physical activity and increased awareness of what the health recommendations are for pupils, This will continue this year to promote healthy lifestyles. Training programme, and resources purchased to increase activity will be utilised and expanded on in future years.

Achieve through Belief Our Action Plan for 2016/17 Area of Focus Action Plan Planned Action Staff Subject specific Knowledge (Teaching and learning)   Continue to increase staff confidence and ability to teach PE as per identified needs. Improve staff subject specific knowledge in dance and gymnastics. Staff questionnaire distributed to highlight developmental areas. Staff training to be planned for the year based on staff feedback. Level 5 in PE specialism for PE lead  (3 day securing good PE teaching in Dance, gymnastics and athletics/games) Increased enjoyment and engagement in PE lessons. Increase in staff confidence in planning, teaching and assessing PE lessons and having ideas for certain activity areas. Subject leader actively leading action planning improvements and monitoring impact in school. Evidence: Lesson observations, planning documents, learning walks, staff feedback and PE action plan Sustainability: Staff increased knowledge for future years. Achieve through Belief Physical Education Curriculum Enrichment at St Chad’s There are opportunities each term for children in Year 1 to Year 6 at St Chad’s to join ‘Fun Clubs’ at lunchtime or after school. Many are related to different sports and have included Multi-Skills , Football , Netball, Tag Rugby and Athletics. We have termly intra- house competitions across KS1 and KS2 as well as a full summer sports day covering many areas from the PE curriculum. The whole school also takes part in events such as Sports relief and Children in Need. Teachers and coaches provide a range of after school sports clubs. Achieve through Belief
