Dealing With Grief Psalm 116:1-9 Love the Lord, because He has heard        My voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me,        Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live. The pains of death surrounded me,        And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me;        I found trouble and sorrow. Then I called upon the name of the Lord:        “O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!”

Dealing With Grief Psalm 116:1-9 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;        Yes, our God is merciful. The Lord preserves the simple;        I was brought low, and He saved me. Return to your rest, O my soul,        For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. For You have delivered my soul from death,        My eyes from tears,        And my feet from falling. I will walk before the Lord,          In the land of the living.

Dealing With Grief The Psalmist Knows What It Is Like To Grieve and Face Troubles and Sorrows. “The pains of death surrounded me,          And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me;          I found trouble and sorrow.” Psalm 116:3 Lessons of Psalm 116:1-9 That Will Help Us Deal With Sorrow and Grief In Our Own Lives.

Dealing With Grief Then I called upon the name of the Lord:          “O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!”           Psalm 116:4 Lesson #1 Tell God Your Problems!

Dealing With Grief “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Matthew 21:22 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6 “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16

Dealing With Grief “Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;          Yes, our God is merciful. The Lord preserves the simple;          I was brought low, and He saved me.” Psalm 116:5-6 Lesson #2 God Has the Power to Help! =

Dealing With Grief “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 “And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 1:19-20

Dealing With Grief “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” Ephesians 3:20

Dealing With Grief “Return to your rest, O my soul,          For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. For You have delivered my soul from death,          My eyes from tears,          And my feet from falling.” Psalm 116:7-8 Lesson #3 God Will Comfort and Bless You!

Dealing With Grief “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” I Cor. 1:3-4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4

Dealing With Grief “I will walk before the Lord,          In the land of the living.” Psalm 116:9 Lesson #4 Live Your Life For God!

Dealing With Grief “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:33-34

Dealing With Grief “We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you,       And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” II Cor. 6:1-2

Dealing With Grief “Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” James 4:13-15
