1 Exposition # 1. Your kingdom come.
Series: Developing a powerful prayer life. Exposition # 1. Your kingdom come. Pastor Yaciel Toledo.

2 Content Prayer definition. What the Bible teaches about prayer.
Five basic types of prayer.

3 Prayer definition. Prayer is talking to God.
Our direct line with heaven. A communication process that allows us to talk to God. A spiritual communication between man and God, a two-way relationship in which man should not only talk to God but also listen to Him.

4 Prayer definition. It is the primary way for the believer in Jesus Christ to communicate his emotions and desires with God and to fellowship with God. When Jesus prayed in Matthew 6:9-13, he asked God, “your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”. When we pray, we invite God’s kingdom into our lives and earth. Prayer can be audible or silent, private or public, formal or informal.

5 What the Bible teaches about prayer.
Must be offered in faith, in the name of Jesus, and in the power of the Holy Spirit. James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. Joh 16:23 In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Mat 21:22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

6 What the Bible teaches about prayer.
We receive joy and peace. Joh 16:24  Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.  Php 4:6  do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Php 4:7  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

7 What the Bible teaches about prayer.
The children of God have a natural desire to pray, while the wicked have no desire to pray (Psalm 10:4). Psa 10:4  In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.”  Luk 11:1  Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.”

8 What the Bible teaches about prayer.
To seek God’s favor and drawing near to God. Psa 73:28  But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.

9 What the Bible teaches about prayer.
We should pray without ceasing (1 Th 5:17). Rom 12:12  Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

10 What the Bible teaches about prayer.
God can either attend our prayer or reject it. Psa 66:19  But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. Pro 15:8  The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is acceptable to him. Pro 15:29  The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous. Pro 28:9  If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination. 1Pe 3:12  For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

11 What the Bible teaches about prayer.
The prayer of faith will save the sick. Jas 5:15  And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Jas 5:16  Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

12 What the Bible teaches about prayer.
So our nation is healed. 2Ch 7:14  if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

13 Five basic types of prayer.
Praise and thanksgiving. Confession. Petition. Intercession. Meditation.

14 Five basic types of prayer.
Without strong prayer foundations, your relationship with Christ will be weak and inconsistent. Prayer is the heart and soul of every successful relationship with God. Each type of prayer has a unique and vital role in the believer’s relationship with God. No prayer type is more or less important than the others. God gave us the various types of prayer to develop a rich and healthy relationship with Him.

15 Five basic types of prayer.
The Pharisees spent much time in regular prayer and fasting yet, they had no personal relationship with God. A powerful prayer life is not just a discipline or ritual; it is a commitment to a personal relationship with Christ. Prayer must be viewed as a commitment to spend meaningful time in personal relationship with the living God.

16 Five basic types of prayer.
It is amazing how we put so much emphasis on serving and working for God when above all He wants our heartfelt personal love. Paul expresses that sacrifice and service are meaningless if they do not proceed from a genuine love relationship. We need much time with God before we attempt work for God. We get so busy sometimes that we spend very little time with God.
