2016 VOLUNTEER LEADERS’ SUMMIT SHRM Update The discounted rate for volunteers for the SHRM 2017 Annual Conference & Exposition is $995, available through February 3, 2017. Visit the Annual Conference web site and register online. You will need to be logged in as a SHRM member first. Free competency-based education programming is now available to SHRM affiliates with the click of a button. “Five Habits of Destructive HR Leaders” is the first in a series of multi-media presentations that chapters can use to help their members brush up on HR competencies from the SHRM HR Competency Model. 2016 VOLUNTEER LEADERS’ SUMMIT

SHRM Certification Incentives SHRM Chapters and State Councils in good standing will be eligible for enhanced financial support based on the number of SHRM members who recertify between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2017: Chapters will receive $20 for each chapter member who is a SHRM member in good standing, primarily coded to the chapter and recertifies for SHRM Certification during 2017 State Councils will receive $10 for each SHRM member in good standing (in-chapter and at-large) in the state who recertifies for SHRM Certification during 2017 Payment will be made to affiliates in good standing in early 2018 based on the number of members meeting the above criteria as of 12/31/17. SHRM Certification Update Continue to encourage members to earn SHRM Certification to receive $20 bonus per certified chapter member for 2016; councils receive $10 per member E-mail sent to Certification contact person for each SHRM Recertification Provider Account Certification Reaffirmation Statement Confirms: affiliate’s support for the SHRM recertification program for 2017 point of contact (correct e-mail address, address, and phone number) for their account adherence to the program standards and guidelines for 2017 Goal is to have all reaffirmation statements submitted by December 1st 2016 VOLUNTEER LEADERS’ SUMMIT

SHRM Certification Update SHRM BoCK Update BoCK is being enhanced to maintain an industry-leading level of excellence Partial credit on the exam will no longer be offered starting with the Spring 2017 window SHRM will be holding a webinar on these changes on November 29th at 4 p.m. (will be recorded) 2016 VOLUNTEER LEADERS’ SUMMIT

2017 SHRM Student Case Competition & Career Summits Three events planned: Central: March 10th-11th, Houston TX West: March 31st- April 1st, Tigard OR (greater Portland metro area) East: April 21st-22nd, Philadelphia PA Students can attend the event that best fits their schedule/budget Volunteers needed to serve as virtual judges (prior to each event) with a variety of roles available onsite Affiliate Sponsorship opportunities available for chapters/state councils

SHRM Update The SHRM Board of Directors has approved a $9 dues increase for SHRM professional memberships. Beginning January 1, 2017, professional membership dues will be $199 per year. Remember that members can pay on a quarterly basis via credit card. E-Blast Holiday Blackout Period: Due to staff vacations during the holidays, SHRM will not send any e-blasts on behalf of Chapters or State Councils from December 17 until January 5. Chapter Promotion E-mail Program: All chapters are allowed to have SHRM send two e-mails per year to at-large members in your chapter ZIP code range. Complete the online form to request.
