A great tool used by SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP certified individuals to track their PDCs is the SHRM Recertification app. It is easy to use and enables you to enter the PDCs as soon as you get them, right on your phone or tablet. Check out the video at this url.

6 Chapter Best Practices
Many chapters have used the rebate money from SHRM and reinvested it into scholarships money towards the test for the study group Check into order kits at the state level as it may be cheaper than local chapter prices Begin study groups with anyone that was in the previous group and is newly certified Assign study buddies in prep courses Provide Incentives towards taking test (financial) Train the Trainer: Offer scholarships but pay them after the test is passed Mock timed test (practice exam on VLRC) Get testimonials from people that pass Participate in the Certification CLA Webcasts SHRM Prep Exam (shrmcertification.org/eligibility) Messaging in VLRC, we can send directly to members Video’s on VLRC to share in monthly meetings SHRM Foundation offers 220 ($750) scholarships towards SHRM Certification HRVirginia offers a minimum of four ($500) scholarships towards SHRM Certification

7 Recertification Provider Programs
SHRM and HRCI both have recertification provider programs Both have a seal to display showing your status Both SHRM’s preferred provider and HRCI status lasts for 1 year; renewable annually SHRM’s preferred provider status doesn’t have a cost, HRCI is at no cost for SHRM chapters/State Councils; $450 for non-SHRM affiliates. However, SHRM chapters/council are subject to conference charges if submitting more than 1 per year ($250). SHRM’s preferred provider status allows automatic approval of programs, HRCI still requires you to submit each program for approval at least 30 days prior

8 Applying for Recertification Credits - SHRM
SHRM only has one type of recertification credit that counts towards all SHRM certifications (i.e. if you have the SHRM-SCP, any recertification hours count) To apply for recertification credits, a preferred provider must submit the following items into the certification portal (after submitting, a recertification code is automatically generated):

9 Applying for Recertification Credits - HRCI
HRCI has several basic types of recertification credits to apply for, General or Business. Also available, Global and CA. To qualify for business credits, it’s important to include at least three learning objectives that fall outside of HR’s primary responsibility but require HR to work with other areas of the business such as finance, marketing and operations In general, activities that qualify for business credits are those that: Are nontraditional HR and not specifically covered in the other five areas of the SPHR and SPHRi ECOs. Require certification holders to learn about a different business function or enter into a partnership with another department for the activity. Have an impact on the organization’s mission, vision, values, bottom line, policies or strategic goals and objectives. Develop certification holders’ skills in strategic planning, critical thinking, influencing, negotiation and leadership.

10 HRCI lists the following activities that qualify for business credits:
