APPLICATIONS OF TECHNOLOGY DOORS AND WINDOWS APPLICATIONS OF TECHNOLOGY

SWINGING DOORS Door swings open because it is hinged on one side Doors can be flush (without panels panel), paneled, or French (contains rectangular panels of glass). Most doors in buildings are swinging doors. Swinging doors are the used for main entry doors as well as closets and other rooms/spaces.

SLIDING DOORS Door slides on a track below the door frame. Doors may slide pass each other or over the wall. The first picture is an example of paneled door. Sliding doors may be used for closets or exterior doors.

POCKET DOORS Door slides on a track into a slot inside a wall. These doors are often used for closets or bathrooms.

BI-FOLD DOORS Door with two parts that are hinged and fold together while sliding on a track below the door frame. Bi-fold doors are primarily used for closets.

LOUVERED DOORS Door with slanted pieces to let in air but also provide privacy. A door may be fully louvered or partially louvered. These doors may be used as exterior doors or for closets.

OVERHEAD DOORS Door slides vertically on a track towards the ceiling of a room. May operate manually or with an electric motor. These doors are used primarily for garages

STORM & SCREEN DOORS Door designed to protect entry doors from the weather. Door that holds a screen to allow air flow and keep out insects.

DOUBLE-HUNG & FIXED WINDOWS Window with two separate parts that slide up and down on a track. Window that doesn’t open. With single-hung windows, on the top part is fixed while the bottom part slides up and down on a track.

AWNING & HOPPER WINDOWS Window that is hinged on the top and slides open from the bottom. Window that is hinged on bottom and open from the top. May be doors to closets or exterior doors.

CASEMENT & SLIDING WINDOWS Window that is hinged on one side and swings open. Window with two parts that slide horizontally along a track. These doors are often used for closets or bathrooms.

TRANSOM, CLERESTORY, AND JALOUSIE WINDOWS Fixed or operable window above a door. Window with slanted pieces to allow air flow. Bi-fold doors are primarily used for closets. Windows within a small section of the roof that is raised above the main roof level.
