Presentation transcript:

Extreme Energy Events M. Abbrescia Extreme Energy Events Two contributions at recent conferences:  Paola La Rocca: “Operation and performance of the EEE network array for the detection of cosmic rays”, 14th Vienna Conference on Instrumentation, February 18, 2016, Vienna  Maria Paola Panetta: “Recent results and performance of the EEE Project MRPCs network”, XIII Workshop on Resistive Plate Chambers and related detectors, Feb , Gent, Belgium Kindly invited to post their presentations on the EEE website

Extreme Energy Events M. Abbrescia Extreme Energy Events Proceedings due for:  VCI2016: 15 March 2016!!! Will be published on NIM A Need two “internal referees” who carefully read the paper Please circulate to the EEE collaboration asap  RCP2016: 9 May 2016 Will be published on JINST Need two “internal referees” who carefully read the paper Please circulate the contribution to the EEE collaboration 3 weeks in advance

Extreme Energy Events M. Abbrescia Extreme Energy Events Data taking:  Overall proceeding smoothly Close to 20 billions of events About 200 millions events/day  Statistics added by Fabrizio on the monitor What to add more? Total number of events (written in number) Statistics at the single station level Warnings (via mail or whattsup) to station responsibles When? How many?

Extreme Energy Events M. Abbrescia Extreme Energy Events Data taking:  Still some shifts uncovered! 9-14 March, 18 March Taking shift is quite important and a duty to the collaboration Please ALL contact our collegues who still have not signed up:

Extreme Energy Events M. Abbrescia Extreme Energy Events Data taking:  Officially 46 telescopes in school + 4 at INFN sections + 2 at CERN 40 telescopes in the monitoring About taking data regularly  Some of the stations are under construction  Some have the inversion problem Bossini’s box to be replicated More tests at CERN to be done  Anyhow we have increase this number soon! In particular for “old” stations Task force to be created

Extreme Energy Events M. Abbrescia Extreme Energy Events Analysis:  Upward going events paper completed More to come!  Asked to Marco and Ivan to prepare a paper on Forbush decreases Any volunteer is welcome  Other analysis have to converge Efficiency has to be measured before end of Run2 Procedure to measure angle with north to be defined and sent around Reference system to be frozen! Twiki (or other) page still to be created

Extreme Energy Events M. Abbrescia Extreme Energy Events National EEE school:  Silvia has prepared a project Streaming, starting this Spring, other details in her presentation Volunteers for lessons needed Meeting with schools of central Italy Confirmed at Grosseto, April 2016 Around 28 schools invited (one prof.+2 stud./school) Local organizers: prof. Pettini+Fabrizio (+support from CentroFermi and EEE) Maybe EEE technical meeting in coincidence

Extreme Energy Events M. Abbrescia Extreme Energy Events Upcoming conferences:  CRIS2016: Cosmics Ray International Seminar, Ischia, 4-8 luglio 2016 Deadline: 15 May 2016 Stefano volunteered, maybe space for other candidates  IEEE/NSS 2016: Strasburgo, Francia, 29 October, 6 November 2016 Deadline 3 May 2016 Federico volunteered, maybe space for other contributions
