Look for FIC on the spine label. The second line on the label will have the first three letters of the author’s last name. LOAN PERIOD= 3 WEEKS! FICTION SECTION cont’d

To help you browse for books in the FICTION section, there are stickers on some of the book spines to tell you what kind of category or genre the book is in.

Check out this display area for “New Books” throughout the school year!! There will be fiction and nonfiction books available--

Now let’s visit the NON-FICTION section- This part of the library collection is arranged by the Dewey Decimal Classification System. LOAN PERIOD= 3 WEEKS!

NON-FICTION section cont’d There are posters above the shelves to show you the different Dewey Decimal System categories/groups. See the spines have Dewey Decimal numbers on the labels! (750’s=art books on paintings)

You will find many books in the non-fiction section that will help you with your assignments throughout your years at M.C.C.S. You will also find books on subjects that you find interesting on a personal level.

The BOOK CART – is for books that you do not know where they go back on the shelves AND that are NOT signed out!!

Library Computers Computers can be used by students during class time (with teacher’s permission) and at breaks/recesses. All the systems have Destiny Quest, Microsoft Office programs and the Internet. Remember if you are listening to something on the computer- bring your own ear buds/headphones! *Grade 6 and 7’s please check computer use schedule in your home room for recess time.
