Dealing with challenging behaviour – a visual explanation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDrzfrtTUiU

What do this term mean? How to minimise the effects of a challenging behaviour ?

Minimising the effects of challenging behaviour This concept focuses on the ways which can be used in order to minimise the effects of challenging behaviours identified in P1, Minimising the effects of challenging behaviour is essential in order to ensure that both the service providers, service user demonstrating the challenging behaviour and the other service users are safe and cared for as required.

Minimising the effects of challenging behaviour Positive behaviour management techniques used to minimise the effects of challenging behaviour would be things such as ignoring behaviours which are destructive, dangerous or harmful to others. Body language is essential when minimising the effects of challenging behaviours as negative/aggressive or closed body language might aggravate the situation. Effective communication such as the use of the right tone of voice or pitch of voice are also essential when minimising the effects of challenging behaviours within a health and social care setting.

P3 Tips – Deadline 14.02.2014 In order to achieve P3, you will need to suggest 5 strategies which can be used to deal with challenging behaviour on pp.2 of the specification for this unit under “how to minimise effects of challenging behaviour. The format you must use in FACTSHEET, there is an example on your blog. You will need to pick 1 of your chosen challenging behaviour identified in P1, and choose strategies which are relevant to it. You will need to ensure that your explanation for your chosen strategies are explained in the context of either your own work placement or a fictional situation.

P3 Tips (Factsheet) – Structure Chosen strategy, Define chosen strategy generically, Explanation in context of your strategy used in a health and social care setting – making clear links to your chosen challenging behaviour.
