Why are those skills important ?

P3 Tips In order to achieve P3, you will need to review the strengths and weaknesses of your own counselling skills development and practice. You will need to identify and explain the skills identified in the feedback sheet and provide an explanation for each of them. You will need to review the strengths and weaknesses of own counselling skills.

P3 Tips Your review must identify: The general feedback you received for each of the points on the feedback sheet, How well/not well you felt you demonstrated that skills, What improvements/changes you might need to make to your own counselling practice in order to ensure that your skills are demonstrated better.

What is a care plan ?

Care plan a definition …. A care plan is an agreement between a service user and your health professional (and/or social services) to help you manage your health day-to-day. It can be a written document or something recorded in your patient notes. Everyone who has a long-term condition can take part in making their care plan. It helps to assess what care you need and how it will be provided.

Update on Ms Vinnel…. After spending the last 12 weeks counselling Mrs Vinnel, and she seemed to have made some excellent progress. 4 weeks after your last session with Mrs Vinnel, you are contacted by the local hospital which notifies you that she attempted suicide by throwing herself off her second floor balcony and that for their safety her children have now been taken into care. She is currently in hospital and under observation until she stabilises, she has a fractured spine, broken eye socket and dislocated her hip bones and the doctor has requested some information, from you and some suggestion with regards to her care plan. How might integrating counselling skills at this stage support her care plan ?

M1 – Factsheet and Care Plan You will need to create a fictional care plan for Ms Vinnel. You will need to research the following key theorist and read into their perspectives with regards to person centred counselling : Carl Rogers, Egan. You will need using the Mrs Vinnel Case study to identify what are the benefits and downsides of implementing counselling skills within a care plan looking at the benefits and downsides using evidence from the theorist identified above and making links to Maslow.
