History *To learn about events beyond living memory e.g. Victorian life. *To study the lives of significant individuals in the past who have contributed to national and international achievements. E.g. Queen Victoria. *To learn about significant historical events, people and places in their own locality. To complete a visit to a Victorian building and experience life as a Victorian child. Literacy Speaking & Listening: To listen and respond appropriately to adults and their peers. To take part and take turns in a conversation showing awareness of the needs of the listener. To ask relevant questions to extend their understanding and knowledge. Reading:. To read accurately words with two or more syllables. To read further common exception words. (and be able to spell these words also) To read words on sight quickly without the need for sounding out. To pick up new vocabulary and be able to explain the meanings of new words. Add these words to their everyday vocabulary. To read with increasing fluency, accuracy, understanding and enjoyment. To check text makes sense to them as they read and correcting inaccurate reading, To make inferences on the basis of what is being said and done. To work out the sense of a sentence by re-reading or reading ahead.
