Presentation transcript:

What is the 787 Dreamliner? The new eco-friendly plane due for release in New carbon composite technology resulting in a lighter aircraft. Will produce 20% less co 2 than the new Airbus 350 and other competitors. The 3 models of the Dreamliner help achieve different goals in the aviation market. And... The three different types of the Dreamliner?

The Dreamliner’s Targets and goals? The Dreamliner was designed with 3 models so that a various number of passengers can travel a number of different distances. As you can see the 3 models of the Dreamliner defiantly fill the gapes of Boeing's current fleet of passenger planes. Distance (miles) Another target is to produce 20% less CO 2 than other planes and to decrease the fuel consumption. This shows the impact the Dreamliner will have on Boeing when it enters service. Less fuel=Less CO2, 1kg of fuel saved = saves 3.6kg CO2 Quads= 4 engines Twins= 2 engines

Why reducing CO 2 is important ? This graph shows the rise in CO 2 in the Aviation sector. This is why people in Industry have designed and are building planes for the future that reduces the amount of CO 2 produced: So Boeing have produced the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to reduce CO 2 emissions by 20% in the aim to help the environment. The 787 has more efficient engines and lightweight materials which has helped reduces drag and therefore fuel consumption which results in less CO 2. > drag > fuel consumption > CO 2

So how does the Dreamliner compare to its rivals? The main competitor to the Dreamliner will be the new Airbus A350 which is due to arrive in This is how they compare: The A350 is a shorter version of the new Airbus A380 to combat the 787 Dreamliner So with 5 more years to go until the A350 is in the air, you would have thought it would be more efficient? BUT NO!! The Dreamliner outshines the A350 and the previous Airbus models due it using brand new technology were as Airbus are just updating existing technology.

Conclusion and Questions The Dreamliner 787 is a new passenger plane which uses less fuel and releases less co2 There are different models of the plane to fill the gaps in the market It is more efficient than any of its other respected rivals How aviation pollution is rising at the very moment Q How Boeing has performed in the past in helping to lower harmful emissions formed from their previous planes How the Dreamliner will improve the environment, will the CO 2 levels for aviation begin to drop? What model of plane is the most effective? Is it possible to have a aviation solution so CO2 is seen as minimal?
