What do we do? We support young people through assessing their needs. We work with young people to try to reduce their risk of offending. We work in partnership with other services and agencies. We support young people to return to education, find employment opportunities and accommodation. We show respect, we listen and we care.

Children and Young People in Custody All young people in custody keep in contact with their YOT worker. YOT case worker attends the sentence planning review. There is a strong focus on helping young people to resettle back into the community. We support the safeguarding procedures and work with prison staff as much as possible.

Children and Young People in Residential Homes The Problem: We recognised the Police were being called out on a regular basis to our childrens’ homes. The Opportunity: For LYOT to work with staff in our homes and the Police to ensure that children and young people are not criminalised where possible. The Future: A joint protocol has been developed across the county to support the children, young people and staff involved. This will mean fewer convictions and more support for young people in Lancashire.

The Future for Children Looked After in LYOT……… Changes within the directorate group will mean more joined up working with residential services, short stays schools, CAHMS and the fostering and adoption services. Work with courts to ensure we all understand our role in corporate parenting. Listening to what our young people have to tell us. Any feedback from today.
