Classroom Procedures

When you walk in to class… Go straight to your seat Take out your notebook Start on the “Beginning Work” in your notebooks No more than 6 people at a table – preferably 5 people per table. This is a quiet time.

Come to class prepared * Every day you should bring: 1. Your folder containing homework 2. Any classroom material. 3. Something to write with.

Writing We will complete two writing pieces per class. You may be given a prompt and your pieces will be graded.

Sitting the right way * Bottom in your chair * All 4 chair legs on the ground * Facing the front * Hands on top of your desk

When you want my attention * When you need to ask or tell me something, raise your hand. * NEVER call out "Mrs. Searcy." * NEVER tap me.

Leaving the Classroom You have to ask me before you leave the classroom. You will need to sign out and take the green teacher hall-pass.

When the intercom comes on or if the phone rings BE SILENT! *If you are talking, I cannot hear the person talking.

Speaking with respect * I will speak to you with respect so I expect you to speak to me with respect. * Use manners - Please, Thank You, Excuse Me, Sorry *Let's talk about some examples of the difference between respect and disrespect.

|Charging Center| There is a charging center located in the GOLD kitchen. You are welcome to charge your devices there. BUT ONLY THERE! **On days we cook we will MOVE the station.

Creation Center In the Middle Room, there is a spot behind the desk that is the Creation Center. You may use any of these items BUT YOU MUST RETURN THEM!!!

When you think something is unfair * Explain why you think something is unfair calmly and respectfully. * Yelling, putting your head down, trying to hurt someone, or using inappropriate language will get you nowhere.

Staying clean DO NOT leave food on the table or in the classroom. * When there is something on the floor around your desk, pick it up. Always clear your desk before we leave the room. DO NOT put your food in the FRIDGES!!!

What if you need to use the bathroom? * Every student is allowed to leave the classroom to go to the bathroom one time per day unless you have a note from a doctor saying you need to go more times. * You can go before school starts, during recess, lunch, or after school. So you should only need to leave the classroom once at the most. *You must SIGN OUT on the board next to your name with the time you left.

Going to the Computer Lab *When we go there, I will tell you which computer to sit at.

Going to the Computer Lab *IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, SIMPLY RAISE YOUR HAND. DO NOT YELL "MINES NOT WORKING!!!!!" *Only use the computer for what I tell you we are using it for. *Do not attempt to show me a game online.

10-10 Rule You may not leave the first 10 minutes of class or The last 10 minutes of class. WHY?? Because we are learning BELL to BELL!!!

How Can I Get Your Attention? When I raise my hand and say “Hands Up”, you raise your hand and close your mouth! HANDS UP

What do I need for class?  Composition book – to make an interactive notebook! ***NO EXCEPTIONS!  Pencil or Pen  Paper  Folder  Open Mind

If you are absent… * Check the Missed Work Box. You have 2 days the first day you are absent and 1 day for each additional day your are out. It is your responsibility to check the box on the day you were absent. I will place your work in that box under that day.

Let's talk about...

Bullying is never okay *If someone hurts you or makes you feel bad, tell a teacher. Always. *NEVER solve an argument by fighting.

Communicating with your parents/families I have many ways to talk to your parents: *Our class webpages *Your parents' phones *Your parents' addresses *Our google classroom page *Infinite Campus *And I even have the address to your house *So, if there is something I need to tell them, I will find a way.

If we have a Fire Drill * Stop what you are doing, get in line and go silently out the back door in the back classroom.

If we have a Tornado Drill * Stop what you are doing, get in line and we will go to the visitor’s locker room in the gym.

Any questions? "Those who ask a question are a fool for five minutes; those who don't ask a question remain a fool forever." - Chinese Proverb
