PHWAG Meeting National achievements to date Successful National Hub and spoke model covering all regions 1282 Health Trainers trained to date,115 Health Trainer services National Agenda for Change banding and profile Underpinned by national set of competencies and the Health Trainer Behavioural Change Handbook National awards in Place - City & Guilds [Level 3] and Royal Institute for Public Health [Level 2] National Evidence Base including – Activity and outcome reports, national data collection system and national evaluations. Offender Health - 80 prisoners trained as health trainers The Army 450 Physical Training Instructors trained 2007/8. Other 3 rd party interests; Royal Mail, Asda, Marks & Spencer, National Pharmacies, Football Foundation and IFI
PHWAG Meeting National agenda – local delivery 2008/9 To work with existing NHS Health Trainer Partnerships and PCTs, to continue implementation in their areas To work through the regional structures and the implementation team to bring the remainder of the NHS into the Health Trainer project To work with selected third party organisations to introduce the Health Trainer concept into their environments

PHWAG Meeting Back to the beginning 3 early adopters 3 different models Bradford: Sessional workers, 15 day Open College Network accredited course specifically for HTs plus monthly training days for 6 months plus assessment in practice. Generic workers focus on deprived communities Kirklees: Selection of people with competencies closest to HT, gap analysis, plus 2 day fast track training course then assessment via portfolio and 1:1 interview two services developed one focused on long term conditions Hull: Service model focused on neighbourhoods, as well as local prison, acute trust, learning disability, children and young people and BME populations. Training drew on local existing courses e.g. Community Wardens ODPM accredited training in community working, existing specialist health promotion training modules. Foundation level for all + basic health modules on key health priorities Top-up training provided to reflect speciality area of work
