Sponsored by the National Skills Academy for Health and Department for Business, Innovation and Skills Is an employer-led body supporting employers and learners to access high-quality training Part of a national network of Excellence Centre hubs Promotes high quality training provision through the Skills for Health Quality Mark scheme

3 The role of the North East Excellence Centre
To support the North East’s learning needs with a strong emphasis on: Driving innovative, multi-disciplinary development which has a system-wide benefit and is Apprenticeship Levy funded Establishing best-practice standards for partner providers in learning delivery, achievement rates and costs Supporting the North East health economy in maximising the benefits of the Apprenticeship Levy Enabling greater levels of workforce mobility through shared development

4 The Excellence Centre committee
Our committee is employer-led. It aims to have system-wide representation and strategic links to the LWAB/LWAGs: South Tees and Northumbria Clinical Commissioning Groups HENE Social Care GP Federations

5 Work already underway The Excellence Centre has been focused on the following areas: Education and awareness events around the Apprenticeship Levy and its impact Creating a regional picture of Apprenticeship demand to support workforce planning Exploring a regional consortium to partner with an End Point Assessment agency Progressing with the Quality Mark status through the Skills for Health partnership Developing new approaches to apprentice-based training to support key activity, eg Preceptorship and Customer Service

6 Future plans The Excellence Centre will be focused on the following areas: Gathering requirements from the regional health economy, starting with Acute trusts Formalising the Excellence Centre approach, including governance Regional tarriff arrangements with HEI’s Rolling-out the Quality Mark across apprenticeship providers More innovation in learning solutions Adopting a regional tendering approach for key programmes of learning
