29/10/20152 ISO 14001: 2015 ISO 14001: 2015 version went live on 8 September 2015 IEMA were involved in consultation process and the draft in principal had been approved by a significant number of IEMA members in an international ballot IEMA ran a number of Webinars to inform members of the changes and provided a summary of key changes E & WMG Group, West of Scotland Branch

29/10/20153 ISO 14001: 2015 Organisations who have an EMS already certified to the current standard do not need to change immediately to the 2015 version but can transition to the new standard by 7 September 2018 After that date the 2004 version with expire and be withdrawn The following slides provide a summary of key amendments and as may be expected, these are intended to raise standards and increase robustness of systems and monitoring E & WMG Group, West of Scotland Branch

29/10/20154 ISO 14001: 2015 A new structure – “significant change” “Top Management” accountabilities need to be defined Competencies for professionals and auditors to be defined There needs to be compliance “obligations” made publically available, inclusive of; Legal – Corporate – Self Defined Autonomy retained on “how” organisations achieve compliance E & WMG Group, West of Scotland Branch

29/10/20155 ISO 14001: 2015 Not a sidebar but integrated into business as usual Resources must be available as business as usual Importantly, effects of environment on organisations will be key – Resilience was mentioned repeatedly Pollution Prevention replaced with Protection of the Environment No more “tick box” exercise but actions and improvements need to be demonstrable E & WMG Group, West of Scotland Branch
