Form the present progressive with the present tense of estar and a present participle. ESTAR + PRESENT PARTICIPLE Están cantando. Estoy comiendo. They are singing. I am eating. Estamos esperando. Ella está trabajando. We are waiting. She is working.

If an –er or –ir verb has another vowel before the ending (leer, creer, influir, etc), the present participle ends in –yendo (change the i to a y). Irregulars: iryendo poder pudiendo venir viniendo

Juan is at the library. Estar is used with adjectives to describe the physical condition of nouns. La puerta está cerrada. Todo está muy limpio. The door is closed. Everything is very clean.
