Welcome to our Remembrance Assembly

Armistice Day Eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month

Why a Poppy?

FLANDERS FIELD In Flanders Fields where poppies grow, Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly. Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved and now we lie In Flanders Fields.

Between the crosses, row on row that mark our place.

And in the sky, the larks, still bravely singing, fly.

Scarce heard above the guns below.

Loved and were loved

Poppy Day is not just about remembering soldiers from Great Britain during World War 1 and 2. We also remember soldiers from other countries and continents that helped to support our country during these wars.

Ghurkha soldiers from Nepal

Soldiers from Africa

Soldiers from India

Today we remember all those who have died in all wars. The war in Afghanistan is still going on. These soldiers fought and died for US!

Afghanistan (Olaf Schmidt was a soldier from Cornwall)

17 June 1898 – July 25, 2009 (Died aged 111 years, 38 days) We should remember him, and the generation he represented, with great pride and affection Last British survivor to fight in the trenches in World War 1.

May they rest in peace

We will now have show our thanks and respect with 1 minute silence to think about all those who have died in war and conflict so that we can live the lives we live.

They shall not grow old, As they that are left grow old Age shall not weary them Nor the years condemn At the going down of the sun And in the morning WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

When you go home Tell them of us and say ‘For your tomorrow We gave our today.’

……………………always remember! Thank you for watching and………..
