Pennsylvania Hardwoods Development Council Created in 1988 by PA State Legislature – Act : “for the purpose of expanding and promoting the development and efficient usage of forest product resources located in this Commonwealth.” 21 members: Secretaries of Agriculture, Commerce, Environmental Resources, State Forester; 2 Senators, 2 Representatives; 13 members appointed by the Governor including: PSU, USDA-Forest Service, furniture rep, veneer rep, 2 reps of secondary processors, 2 reps of non-profits, PA Chamber of Business and Industry, PA Forestry Association rep, PFPA rep, pulp/paper rep, and saw mill operator Structure under Department of Commerce
