HEART

4 main organs/parts: 1. Heart 2. Lungs 3. Blood Vessels 4. Blood

Functions of the circulatory system : 1: It provides oxygen to the body and removes carbon dioxide and other wastes. 2: It keeps your body temperature stable. 3: It helps to fight diseases.

Main components of the blood: 1.Plasma 2.Red blood cells 3.White blood cells 4.Platelets

Functions of Blood: Plasma-All the blood cells sweep along in a liquid called Plasma. It is about 55% of total blood content, and helps maintain blood pressure. Red blood cells-They are 45% of total blood content. They transport oxygen in the body. White blood cells-They fight infections. Platelets-Prevent bleeding.

Types of blood vessels and their functions 1.Arteries : They are the largest and strongest vessels. They Carry oxygenated blood away from the heart and to all organs of the body. 2.Veins: Carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart. 3.Capillaries: Arteries are connected to veins by a network called capillaries. They are the blood vessels that help exchange substances between the blood and surrounding tissues.

Chambers of the Heart: Right Atrium Left Atrium Right Ventricle Left Ventricle

Blood circulation through the chambers of the heart 1.Right Atrium: Receives oxygen-poor blood from the body tissues and brain. 2.Right Ventricle: Pumps oxygen-poor blood to the lungs. 3.Left Atrium: Receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs and pumps it. 4.Left ventricle: Pumps the oxygen-rich blood to the body.

3 interesting facts about Circulatory System: 1.It takes 20 seconds for red blood cells to circle the whole body. 2.There are 5 billion red blood cells in the human body. 3.The heart is made of muscle that never gets tired.
