Vampire bat Ethan Cheung

Animal Facts Description The vampire bat is red, gold, or gray-brown. They are 2.75 to 3.5 inches long and weighs to 1 to1.75 ounces. They have fur and can run, climb, hop, and leap. They can summersaults and there is a special thumb on both wings to help them. A pic showing your animal. Movement The vampire bat flies and they can also move differently but they mostly fly. Their wingspan is 13 to 15 inches long. Their wings are made out of membrane which can make light pass through so their wings are brighter than usual. They travel at the speed of 12 mph. Diet The vampire bat is a carnivore and drinks blood from farm animals and people. They are the only mammal that can drink blood.

Habitat 20 to 100 bats, some include 5,000 or more. The Vampire bat likes places that are hot and cold, not too hot or cold. They can run, walk, and jump. They have strong hind legs and a special thumb and heat sensors. that are dark like hollow trees, empty buildings, mines, and walls. They are located in Mexico, Central Vampire bats live in places America, and South America. Most colonies include Map showing where your animal lives Picture showing your animal in its habitat.

Life Cycle Vampire bats are born alive and there mother gets them once a year so they come out one by one. The mother nurses her pups for 1 to 3 months. They look hairless with a full set of teeth. The adult bat has short muzzle and a distinct face which makes them look like a vampire so they look scary. They live to about 12 years usually. Some Vampire bats go over there limits.

Animal Interactions The Vampire bat protects itself by flying in swarms to confuse the clueless predator and make patterns and make sure the predator doesn`t eat them.
