Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) IDEA protects the rights of students with disabilities in elementary and secondary schools. Covers children with disabilities from birth to age 22. All children should be provided with a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) Provides students with an Individual Education Program (IEP) Least Restrictive Environment Due Process Individual Transition Program –Transition statement should be written into the IEP by age 14.
