3 Together we will not leave children behind… Educational Laws: IDEA - Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (1990, 2004) All students (ages 6-21) must be provided a Free and Appropriate Education in the least restrictive environment Provided by public schools Assistive technology must be provided to ensure success with the curriculum NCLB - No Child Left Behind (2001) Includes all students; with and without disabilities Students in grades 3-8 and one year of high school assessed annually Schools held accountable for the outcomes of students with and without disabilities

6 The Usage of Technology Provides Innovation to All Students Educational Laws for Technology Technology-Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Act of 1988 This law is to increase the accessibility & funding for Assistive Technology services and devices to individuals with disabilities. Title II, Part D—Enhancing Education Through Technology: To ameliorate student academic success through technology in both elementary and secondary education. To help all students, by making sure that they are all technologically literate by the completion of eighth grade, regardless of the student's socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, gender, geographic location, or disability. To support the successful integration of technology resources and systems along with teacher training and curriculum building to develop research-based educational methods that can be implemented by State and local educational organizations.
