 Eustress: Positive stress  Distress: Negative stress  Stressor: The event, situation, or person that causes the stress  Stress: The response of your body or mind to being challenged or threatened  Discussion question: Is all stress negative?

 Practice Essay: In an essay format (at least 3 paragraphs with an intro, body, and conclusion) describe a situation in which you were stressed. In the essay, identify what the “stressor” was and identify whether the stress you felt was eustress or distress. Also describe how the stress affected you and whether or not you overcame it. Each paragraph MUST have a MINIMUM of three sentences per paragraph.

 Your body can no longer keep up with the demands placed on it  Physical and emotional resources depleted  Only occurs if you experience a stressor for a long time  Can trigger illness or reduce the bodies ability to fight illness (headaches, asthma attack, high blood pressure, heart disease)
