PARCC Research Simulation Task

 Research Simulation tasks involve the gathering and inclusion of important information from several texts in various media formats on a particular topic or question. In other words, citing information from various texts or videos to help support your response.  Research simulation tasks include taking notes, as providing a list of sources.

While traveling on my journey as a trader, I would experience “cataracts, or steep rapids” (Interactive Map of Ancient Egypt). These cataracts would make it difficult for me to travel the Nile River after trading with Kush.  Any information you use from the texts or videos need to be in quotes.

 Sources for the task can include quotes from: Videos Articles about a Topic Readings Primary Source (or written as a first hand account)

 You have read two texts and watched a video describing the topography of Ancient Egypt. All 3 include information about the dangers of traveling in Egypt. “Chapter 7 – Geography and Early Settlement of Egypt, Kush, and Canaan” (Chapter Notes) “Egyptian Trade” Article (Primary Source Reading) “Five Facts about Ancient Egypt – Geography for Kids” (Video)

 Take on the role of a trader in Ancient Egypt. Make an entry in your travel journal that tells what you have experienced in your travels and the dangers you may have encountered that day.  Cite information from at least two of the sources to support your response.
