2 Visiting the Library Media Center Mrs. Anderson – Library Clerk Mrs. Benning - Media Specialist Parent Volunteers Library Hours: 8:00 am – 3:00 pm

3 Be sure to show your pass and sign in and out when coming to the library during class times You MUST show your ID and sign in at lunchtime

4 Behavior The library is a place for QUIET study, research, reading, or doing homework. PLEASE – No talking louder than a whisper!

5 No food or drinks AT ALL! Not even water! Hats off Backpacks under your table ALWAYS push in your chair when you leave

6 I.D. CARDS ID cards are required to: Check out books Enter library at lunch Take Accelerated Reader quizzes

7 ID cards are NOT required to: Renew a book Return a book Pay a fine Visit the library before or after school

8 KEEP YOUR I.D. CARD IN YOUR BACKPACK AT ALL TIMES!

11 TO SHELVE, OR NOT TO SHELVE? Reference books? YES! Fiction and all other books? NO!

12 Check it out! Three book limit Two week check-out

13 Check it in! Place in the “book drop” OR Have a library worker check it in Don’t just leave books on the counter and walk away!

14 Renew it! OVERDUE BOOKS MAY NOT BE RENEWED! RETURN BOOKS ON TIME!

15 Overdues/Fines Overdue book fine is 10¢ per day/per item Overdue books may not be renewed Do not ignore an overdue notice! It will not magically disappear!!

16 Return the late book EVEN IF YOU CAN’T PAY THE FINE! (This stops the fine from increasing) Students with fines/overdues may not check out additional books!

17 Lost/Damaged Books Do not loan your ID card to anyone and NEVER check out books for a friend! You are responsible for everything checked out with your id card!

18 Computer Use Computers are for schoolwork only! You must have the “Internet Access” logo on your ID card to use the computer for research or word processing

19 More computer stuff to know: Printing costs 10¢ per page EVEN FOR STUFF YOU DON’T INTEND TO PRINT! L.A. Public Library databases are available if you have a LAPL library card.

20 Copies are 10¢ per page Hint! Always have a little money with you in case you need to copy or print something!

21 Accelerated Reader You MUST have your ID card to take a quiz You may not re-take a quiz

22 How do I find an AR book? Lists in the AC Stelle library Lists in the public library Lists online Orange dot on the spine

23 AR FAQ’s: How many points must I earn each quarter? ASK YOUR TEACHER! When is my teacher’s due date? Ask your teacher or visit the library webpage

24 How many points do I have? Which books have I read? –Keep track in your planner OR for 25¢ we can print a list for you (if we are not too busy!) And now – for one of the most IMPORTANT things to remember about AR…
