MY JOBS AFTER PROJECT SEARCH – JOB Part-time cleaner at the University of Strathclyde Monday to Friday 7am – 10:00/10:30am (16hours) Process Applied through University website – with support of job coach. Got an interview (which job coach supported me with) Got the job - job coach helped with signing off process and paperwork. Started in November 2015 (3 months after course finished) - job coach helped with settling in and getting to know my role Tasks Vacuuming, dusting, toilet and kitchen cleaning, damp dusting, buffing, mopping, brushing, emptying bins and desk top recycling University of Strathclyde

QUARRIERS JOB Part-time cleaner at Quarriers – various shifts mostly late afternoon/early evening (extra hours just now to help out in the nursery in the family centre.) Process Completed application form when in job club over the summer. (job coach support) October - went for interview (job coach support). Was successful. I had to have a medical and PVG check. (PVG took quite a while. ) Started job in December – job coach support to settle in. Tasks Vacuuming, toilet and kitchen cleaning, damp dusting, mopping, brushing and emptying bins. Quarriers

HOW I’M GETTING ON  Got help to settle in from both sets of staff and a job coach  Schedule made up to help with my tasks (as a reminder)  I have settled in fine but it took a while to get comfortable with my routine.

WOULD I RECOMMEND PROJECT SEARCH  I would recommend Project SEARCH to others like myself (with Asperger’s)  The course involves looking for work. You get experience in different jobs - learn new tasks  Get more confidence  Staff are very helpful in all rotations  Weekly meetings helped with communication (passed on information and updated each other)  Social outings – restaurants, bowling, cinema  When course finished even if we didn’t have a job we still had help to look for jobs.
