 Dental workers focus on the teeth and the soft tissues of the mouth.  Care is directed towards:  Preventing Dental Diseases  Repairing of Replacing Diseased or Damaged Teeth  Treating the gingiva (gums)  Treating other supporting structures of the teeth

 Private Dental Offices  Laboratories  Clinics  Dental Departments in Hospitals  Schools  Health Departments  Government Agencies

 Most dental professionals work in general dentistry practices where all types of dental conditions are treated in people of all ages.  Some however work in specialty areas.

 Endodontics:  Treatment of diseases of the pulp, nerves, blood vessels, and roots of the teeth.  Root Canal Treatment  Orthodontics:  Alignment or straightening of the teeth, mouth, and jaw

 Oral Surgery:  Surgery on the teeth, mouth, and jaw  Pedodontics:  Dental treatment of children and adolescents  Periodontics:  Treatment and prevention of diseases of the gums, bone, and structures supporting the teeth.

 Prosthodontics:  Replacement of natural teeth with artificial teeth of dentures.
