Classroom Rules: 1. Be on time. (tardy slips will be given for students not in their seat working when bell rings=lunch d-hall) 2. Be responsible. 3. Be respectful. 4. Be ready to work. Negative behaviors will be recorded in my classroom discipline book. Each time a negative behavior is recorded-points will be deducted from the student’s citizenship grade. On the 3 rd time, within a nine weeks—d-hall will be assigned and note sent home. Extreme discipline situations will warrant a phone call home and/or discipline office referral.

What do I do when I walk in? At the beginning of each class… 1. Check the cell phone color— green=you may have your cell phone out today red=cell phone is put away—if I see it—it will be taken up until the end of class. 2. You will need your 3-ring binder, composition book, and a pencil everyday. 3. Backpacks will not be permitted at your desk / table. 4. Begin the Warm-up Problems on the sheet provided.

CLASSWORK:  Students will need pencils, paper, markers, and a Math Journal (composition book or spiral). At the beginning of each class, students will work warmup problems, over prior learning. Students will also be required to take notes in their Math Journal. This helps students with their learning, as well as, helps so they can look back at examples when they are doing their homework. Periodically, journals will be collected and checked for a grade.

HOMEWORK:  Homework will be assigned on Monday (Tuesday, if we are off) of each week. The homework will be over items discussed in class the previous week and that Monday. It will be due at the beginning of class each Thursday. Students not turning in homework will be given a Homework Responsibility Form to fill out explaining the reason for not doing their homework. This form will be placed in an personal file for documentation. This week’s homework is to bring the back page to the parent information sheet signed and returned by Thursday, August 28 th.

GRADES  Test Grades 50% and Daily/Homework Grades 50%. Collins requires all teachers to have a minimum of 3 test grades and 6 daily grades each nine weeks. Some nine weeks I will have more grades, but never less than the minimum. You can keep up with your child’s grades by going to txConnect on the CISD website and sign in with your parent portal information. I will put grades in the computer each week.

RETEST POLICY  Stated in the student handbook—For major test grades only- students can retest and raise major grades. In order to retest—true effort on the original test has to be observed by the teacher. Students must be retaught the material and come in during tutorial time to retake the test. The higher of the two grades will be recorded.

TUTORIALS  If you need help with any lesson or homework, you can come in during tutorials. I will have tutorials on Tuesday afternoons from 3:35 to 4:05 and Wednesday afternoons from 3:35-4:05.

STAY INFORMED  Find important dates, information, and even math notes on my webpage—go to / Schools/ Collins Middle School / Classroom and Programs / Teacher Pages / Kandi Crenshaw. You can also sign up to receive important classroom information via text messages through Remind (Remind is formerly Remind101 and is a 1 way messaging system.) Go to and use the correct code from the chart on the parent info sheet (for your math period) OR text the correct code to the number (407) and reply with your first and last name and your in!

I am looking forward to a fun, productive and exciting year helping you reach your full potential in math. Hope you have a GREAT first day here at Collins!
