Trends in Computing You are expected to research a computing related technology (such as mobile phones, social networks etc.) You will communicate these findings through a presentation/report. Evidence may take the form of, but is not limited to, presentations, word processed reports, video or audio recordings.

Trends in Computing From the specification: Candidates should have knowledge and understanding of:  A computing technology and how it has developed.  Examples of that technology.  Technical terms relevant to their chosen technology.  What are meant by ethical, social and legal considerations.

Trends in Computing From the specification: Candidates should be able to:  Describe a development in computing.  Describe different examples of the use/application of that technology and their impact.  Use technical terms when describing their development.  Describe examples of ethical, social and legal considerations related to their chosen development.  Ethical – Wrong or unfair?  Legal – Following or breaking the law?  Social – How does is change the way we live our lives?

Trends in Computing Step 1 – An outline Your presentation needs to include the following: 1)Choose a computing technology that interests you. 2)Describe the technology that you have chosen 3)Describe what changes have taken place in this technology 4)Find some examples of the technology you are looking at and describe what impact these examples have had. 5)Describe how these examples are different. 6)Technology can have social, ethical and legal effects. Describe two examples of the these effects that your technology has had.

Trends in Computing Step 2 – Collect resources Start collecting resources. Use getpocket.com to compile some links to resources. Collect at least: 1)5 Website addresses. 2)3 Videos 3)10 images.

Trends in Computing Step 3 - Presenting Starter Open up PowerPoint and choose a suitable theme for your chosen topic. Think about the colours and fonts that would be appropriate. Explain WHY? You have chosen the theme.

Trends in Computing Step 4 – Introduction. Create an introduction slide introducing the the technology you are going to discuss.

Trends in Computing Step 5 – Development of technology. Using dipity.com or some other timeline generator or manually – research how your technology has developed over the year.

Trends in Computing Step 6 – Presentation so far. Slide 1 – Title Slide 2-4+ What is the technology and why have you chosen it. What is the history of the technology Include your timeline Describe what changes have taken place in this technology Use technical terms when describing development. What might happen if the technology did not exist. Add suitable images. Add other multimedia.

Describe how these examples ae different. Use technical terms when describing the development. Add suitable images. Add other multimedia. Reference and source you have used.

Write about different issues in the past for your two chosen effects. Write about different issues in the present for your two chosen effects.
