Futures Day – 7 th July 2016 Session 1 : Researching – you will look at how to research universities and open days, courses and colleges Session 2 : UCAS – all of the UCAS processes will be explained from completing the application, common errors, what happens when it reaches the universities and how the offers work Session 3 : Personal Statement – What makes a good personal statement and what do the universities look for? There will be tips on writing a persuasive personal statement Session 4 : Completing the online UCAS application – you will be given help and guidance to completing the different sections of the application

You must: Research, research, research Grab the opportunity to attend Open Days without impacting too much on school time. Many occur at weekends and in holiday time. You are allowed a maximum of three during term time. You will need to catch up on the work you missed Take a ‘day trip’ to a university town at the weekend Make decisions and choices Talk to staff about UCAS ‘predicted grades’ and read your SCHOOL reports carefully. These will help inform your decisions
