3. APPLYING Registration Log- in Personal Details Additional information
It will take at least a few weeks to complete and you will need your tutors help and guidance

4. Select ‘Through my school/college
If you have NOT selected to go through the college, your tutor will not be able to add your reference. If you have selected to go independently, amend this by selecting ‘options’, and select to go through the college.

5. ‘sgsfuture’ in lower case
Put in the buzzword
‘sgsfuture’ in lower case
This now should ask you to accept South Gloucestershire & Stroud College-Filton Campus.

6. Make a note of your Personal ID, username and Password

7. Select the course you are studying
Select the course you are studying. If you are not sure which one is correct, ask your tutor or a Careers Adviser, otherwise your application form will not show up in your tutors list.

8. 02-Select if you want to apply for funding, Student Finance England etc (maintenance grant/loan/tuition fee loan)
Select for Medicine.
05-Select if you are applying to NHS courses (Nursing/Midwifery etc) NOT Medicine.

9. CHOOSING COURSES
Refer to the ‘Higher Education Pack’ for help with choosing courses.
Higher Education Packs are available from Learner Services.
You can make up to FIVE course choices.
RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH! It is VERY IMPORTANT that you select your choices carefully, as you CANNOT change them once your application has been submitted to UCAS.
Look into WHAT MODULES ARE COVERED- as the same course title at different universities will vary a lot in content.
Attend OPEN DAYS if you are undecided about where to study
One course will cost £13 and two or more will cost £24. You can pay by cheque or online.
Enter your choices in any order (apply will reorder them alphabetically)
Use the dropdown lists to select institutions and courses. Check very
carefully that the institutions and courses are exactly correct do not rush this section
Use the ‘help’ button if you are unsure
You can select up to 5 courses (up to 4 for medicine, dentistry, vet science)
An additional paper form is required for Oxford and Cambridge
Some courses e.g. Law, Medicine may require a supplementary test
Applying for Art & Design – the route B system has now ended, and courses will either have a 15th January or March 24th deadline date.

10. Use the ‘see list’ as it automatically selects the courses and codes.

11. Deferred entry
If you are wanting to defer entry, then you will need to confirm with your chosen universities that it is OK to defer. (Some courses may not be available the following year)

12. Enter dates for the WHOLE time attended college, even if the Level 3 isn’t the first course they have studied at the college.
September 2012 or 2014
June 2017

13. Date received or will receive grade.
Date you finish/finished course, i.e, June 2017
Add in ALL your modules that you have done or are going to do.
That could be as many as 18.
If you have a grade then put it in, i.e, Pass
If you DO NOT have a grade yet, leave BLANK!!!
Date received or will receive grade.

14. THE PERSONAL STATEMENT
Sell yourself to the university- this is their main way of deciding whether to accept you
If you don’t get your predicted grades, the uni may still accept you based on the strength of your personal statement
Always use a programme that can spell and grammar check, i.e Microsoft Word, and then you are able to copy and paste in into your application form.
There is a maximum limit of 4,000 characters with spaces (about two thirds of an A4 page using a 12 point font).
Use the ‘Help with your Personal Statement’ booklet.
Ask a tutor and/or a Careers Adviser to check
your personal statement, BEFORE you paste it
into your application form.

16. WHAT NEXT?
When you have ‘sent’ your form you will be asked to pay be credit/debit card for your application. The cost is £24 if you apply to more than one course (£13 for only one course)
When everything has been sent to UCAS, you will receive a TRACK password from UCAS. This will enable you to track online what is happening to your application.
You can even download the track app!

17. OFFERS
Conditional: You have a place, as long as you meet specified grades/ Points
Unconditional: You have a place what grades you get (although you will have to complete and pass the course in most cases)
Invitation: Invitation to interview (details will be outlined e.g. bring portfolio, essay task)
Unsuccessful: You have not received a place on this course.
Withdrawn: The university will withdraw your offer if you do not reply in a certain amount of time etc.

18. WHAT IF I’VE HAD NO OFFERS?
UCAS EXTRA-available from mid-February
Gives extra choice to applicants who have used all five choices, and hold NO offers.
You cannot re-do your personal statement via the UCAS application form, but you can your personal statement to the admissions department of the Higher Education Institution, that you want to apply to.
CLEARING- available from the 1st of July
Allows applicants who have had no offers, either before or
after their results, apply to more courses.
CLEARING
Applicants are automatically informed if they are eligible by UCAS.
After you have been informed of your eligibility, you will need to contact Higher Education Institutions individually to be considered for a course. You will not be able to make your choices via UCAS.
Clearing vacancies will be published in newspapers, and on the UCAS website.

19. DEADLINE DATES
Complete your form before the deadline date, so that your tutor can put in your reference!
15th October for applications to Oxford and Cambridge, or for courses in Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science.  
October for all A-level students (college deadline)
November for all other applications. (college deadline)
15th January 2017-UCAS deadline date for all courses.
24th March for some Art & Design courses.
