Fatty Foods

What are the main food groups? Why is it important to eat healthy? What can happen when we only eat foods that are bad for us? What kinds of foods have lots of fat in them?

The Food Pyramid The food pyramid is used to help plan healthy food choices!

Fatty Foods The main food groups are: Fruits and Vegetables Milk and Dairy Meats and Protein Bread and Grains Eating healthy is very important in order to keep our bodies healthy. When we only eat unhealthy foods, our bodies can get sick or run down.

Materials Now we’re going to find out which foods have the most fat in them What we need are: Squares of Paper Bags Different foods to test (French fries, potato chips, an apple, banana, butter, and a hot dog) Pen or Pencil to label

Procedure Rub each piece of food onto a separate paper bag square. Count to twenty while you rub so that you test each food for the same amount of time. Be sure to label the squares so you remember which food you rubbed on each one. Now you have to leave them overnight. Tomorrow you'll see which foods have the most fat!

Predictions Before we find out what happens, everyone should guess which foods they think have the most fat. In your notebooks, write down which foods you think will leave the biggest fat stains, and which foods you think will leave little to no fat stains!

24 Hours Later.. Which foods left the largest fat stains? Is this the same as what you predicted? Why or why not?
