* The job application is the first impression the employer will have of you. * Be sure to pick up two copies or make a copy in case you make an error. * Print neatly with blue or black ink. * If possible, type your application. * If there is a deadline, make sure you return the application on time or EARLY. * Be HONEST!

1. Not following directions 2. Misspelled words 3. Crossed out writing 4. Not printed 5. Wrinkled or messy application form 6. Incomplete information or unanswered questions 7. Not applying for a specific position 8. Incomplete work history, or large unexplained gaps in work history 9. Overlapping or conflicting employment dates with no explanation 10. Application not turned in by the deadline 11. Use of troublesome words, such as "quit" or "fired" 12. Forgetting to sign the application

* Take a look at the sample job application form. * This application is a good example for you to study and items you should be prepared to answer. * Fill out the application as if you were applying. Remember to use a blue or black PEN. * Switch applications with class member and proofread. Make sure printing is legible and complete.

* Always ask an adult to proofread and look over your application before you turn it in. * Treat the application like gold – remember it’s your first impression. * Good Luck!
