LEB Meeting Status of the LEB (J. Gerl) Physics opportunities at the LEB (D. Ackermann) Latest news on the layout of the buncher/spectrometer (J. Winfield) Status of magnet for LEB (G.Pal, P.R. Sarma, A. DattaGupta, C. Nandi) How to proceed

252 Experiments with slowed and stopped beams Laser spectroscopy (LASPEC) Decay spectroscopy (DESPEC) Energy buncher / spectrometer In-flight spectroscopy (HISPEC) Precision mass measurements (MATS)

Requirements from experiments MATS/LASPEC - buncher as originally specified - Laser and trap set-ups behind the shielded cave area - Laser transfer line from laboratory area to experiment area DESPEC - experiment area before spectrometer and behind buncher - buncher requirements as originally specified - different set-ups with detector radii between 1.0 m and 3.5 m HISPEC - experiment area before spectrometer - spectrometer requirements as originally specified ?? - one set-up with different  -arrays - LYCCA wall only behind spectrometer New Super-FRS - high resolution mode New

Situation with the LEB Building LEB Building not included in FAIR MSV → No funds within FAIR contract → None of the LEB experiments can run in a reasonable way → Realization within current construction plan technically not possible NUSTAR Actions - launch an architect study on cost and staged realization plan - search for additional resources - convince FAIR Council and funding agencies on necessity of LEB If Council agrees and additional funds become available timely realization is still possible !!!
