Preliminary Basic Planning Expected Output Basic arrangement plan (1:10,000 topographical map) ‒ Evaluation of geological condition (active fault, earthquake,,) ‒ Determination of DH Location (including elevation) ‒ Layout of the Beam Line route and elevation Access way to Detector Hall (HT and VS) Review the cross-section for the main part (include BDS) Investigation Topographical survey (already done) ‒ Topographical mapping 1:10,000 (result by aviation laser survey) Geological investigation ‒ Borehole investigation with logging test (near IR point /100 ~ 150m ) ‒ Geophysical exploration (500 ~ 1000m) 10. AUG 2014CFS-ADI Joint Meeting 5

Required ADI Information Expected Input (for facility arrangement) Determination of DH Location ‒ IR point (including elevation) ‒ Layout of the Beam Line route and elevation Access way to DH (Vertical or Horizontal or,) Expected Input (for Cross section) Decision of the Cross-section for the main part ‒ BDS Beam Line Layout & Cross-section ‒ Shield Wall thickness in ML-tunnel (Sanami-san reported) Cryogenics Equipment layout ‒ Arrangement of He-Tank & Cold box ‒ Anti-vibration measure of the Compressor Install Method to MLT (include AH Cross-section) ‒ Cryomodules & RF, Cold box 10. AUG 2014CFS-ADI Joint Meeting 6

Near Term Activities : 1 1 Decision of Facility arrangement ■ Determination: IR Point 10. AUG 2014CFS-ADI Joint Meeting 7 Revision the DH Configuration (TDR) Access Facility to DH (VS & HT) Underground Facilities Layout and configuration ■ Determination: Surface Facility Layout Surface Facilities planning (Assembly hall) Kick off some kind of Investigation (Topographical survey, Environmental Assessment) Consultation with regional society In Basic planning stage

2 Decision of Facility arrangement ■ Determination: Beam line level (elevation) ■ Determination: BL Route and Length 10. AUG 2014CFS-ADI Joint Meeting 8 In Basic planning stage Revision the Access Point (AH & AT portal) Access Facility to ML (AT length & location Consistency with surface environment Vibration Impact Evaluation (Artificial, Separation from Riverbed) Access Facility to ML (AT length & location Groundwater treatment (Natural Drainage system) Near Term Activities : 2

3 Decision of the basic facilities plan ■ Specific study of Power equipment (Central power receiving facility) 10. AUG 2014CFS-ADI Joint Meeting 9 In Basic planning term Location of the Central Power Station Power voltage, power receiving system Consultation of Power receiving line Negotiation with local power company Planning the emergency power system Near Term Activities : 3

■ Specific study of Cooling water system, Air-conditioning system, and 4 Decision of the basic facilities plan 10. AUG 2014CFS-ADI Joint Meeting 10 In Basic planning term Finalize the Heat load capacity Cooling water system (cooling tower, chiller ) Exhaust, Smoke facilities in the emergency Facility planning in BDS & Detector Hall Near Term Activities : 4

■ Measurement of regular vibration 5 Geological Survey for Facilities Designs ■ Geological Survey for Underground Facility Design Vp=4.5km/sec以上 ■ Investigation step by step for Development Design ■ Bedrock strength confirmation for execution plans ■ Weak layer distribution Elevation Microtremor measurement in Japan P Wave Longitudinal Section in KITAKAMI Site ■ Artificial vibration (Traffic, etc ) ■ Effects of waves and earthquake 10. AUG 2014CFS-ADI Joint Meeting 11 Medium Activities

Summary 10. AUG 2014CFS-ADI Joint Meeting12 1. The specific engineering design depending on the Kitakami site conditions has started by unification of the site. 2. We need some reviews about Asian TDR configuration in the preliminary planning stage. 3. Important issue in the near term is the determination of IR point(DH) and Beam Line layout(BDS). 4. Surely doing a technological design at the basic planning phase enables shortening at the design period. 5. Minimum geological survey is required to concrete the basic plan toward the design phase. 6. We can push forward preparations for site acquisition and the environmental assessment by early determination of the every access point.
