history The NOI was Founded by Wallace D. Fard (alternately, Farad Muhammad), a mysterious clothing salesman in the ghettos of Detroit. NOI was considered an insignificant "‘voodoo sect" throughout much of the 1930s and 1940s. Fard and his successor and messenger Elijah Muhammad preached that over 6,000 years ago, the black race lived in a paradise on earth that was destroyed by the evil wizard Yacub, who created the white "devil" through a scientific process called "grafting." They also preached the coming of an apocalyptic overthrow of the white race, insisting that the dominion of evil was to end with God's appearance on earth in the person of Fard. Founded in 1930 NOI’s connection to Islam is through its founder Fard.NOI believes, like other Muslims, that there is no other God but Allah, but they redefine "Allah" by saying that he "came in the person of W. D. Fard."

teachings Followers of the Nation of islam, believe that the “gods” are not eternal. They believe that even though the spirit of Allah lives on, the gods(other gods) are not eternal. Followers of the nation of islam believe that intermarriage,and racial mixing should be prohibited. The NOI teaches black superiority over whites.

Followers of the NOI believe that Allah came to the holy city of Mecca, in human form, in the year of 1930, and went by the name of Wallace D. Fard who was the founder of the NOI. The Nation of islam also denies the trinity, and the deity of Christ.

Views on other sects Since the NOI is extremely hateful and believe that “blacks” are superior, and that the whites are “devils”, they do not think very highly of other sects. They believe that they are the “only” worthy sects.

Percentage of total Muslim population Since its founding in 1930, the Nation of Islam (NOI) has grown into one of the wealthiest and best-known organizations in black America. Its theology of innate black superiority over whites and the deeply racist, anti-Semitic and anti-gay rhetoric of its leaders have earned the NOI a prominent position in the ranks of organized hate. There aren't very many statistics on their percentage of overall population.
