Disadvantage: License cannot be transferred to other PCs. If the PC gets lost / stolen, the license is lost, as well. Activation Dialog

IPEmotion License Management Overview8 V1.2 2) Dongle Single License ‣ IPEmotion dongle license requires the dongle to be connected to the PC. ‣ The license code / license file remains on the dongle. Advantage: Users can move the license from PC to PC easily. Disadvantage: One USB port is blocked for the dongle. Only one IPEmotion edition can be saved on the dongle. IPEmotion License Management Overview9 V1.2 3) Dongle Multi License ‣ The dongle can store 1 or more licenses of the same IPEmotion edition. ‣ You need to connect the dongle to the PC. ‣ Click the button “ Read from Dongle”. ‣ The license code is transferred from the dongle to the PC. ‣ The dongle can be removed after license transfer. IPEmotion License Management Overview10 V1.2 3) Dongle Multi License Advantage: Several licenses can be stored on the dongle. Users can move the license between PCs by up and downloading it from/to the dongle. License dongle can be removed after transfer. No USB port is blocked during measurement. Disadvantage: Dongle can be lost. Only one type of IPEmotion edition can be saved on the dongle. Care is required to remember on which PCs the licenses are installed.

IPEmotion License Management Overview11 V1.2 Server License (Corporate solution) ‣ The Server Licensing option is the best solution for corporate installation to provide many users in the company with many licenses and different IPEmotion editions at the same time. ‣ IPEmotion supports the FlexNet Server of FLEXERA ‣ All FlexNet programs are provided by IPETRONIK. ‣

IPEmotion License Management Overview13 V1.2 5) Server Borrow License Advantage: On the server different IPEmotion editions can be provided. Licenses cannot get lost because there is an automatic return to the license server after the expiration date. Updating to new license version (new major IPEmotion release) is handled centrally by the IT department. Disadvantage: Creating the licenses requires cooperation with the IT department. A license is fixed to one computer for some time and thus blocked for other users, unless the user returns the license before expiration date.

IPEmotion License Management Overview14 V1.2 Server Floating License ‣ A floating license is only in use when the IPEmotion software is started. ‣ The client PC connects to the FlexNet server and takes the required IPEmotion edition. ‣ There is a regular communication between PC and server to check if the license is still in use. ‣ When the software is closed the license is available for other users. IPEmotion License Management Overview15 V1.2 6) Server Floating License Advantage: On the server different IPEmotion editions can be provided. Licenses cannot get lost because they are always being stored on the server. Different editions can be stored on the server and users can select the edition needed. License is only used when IPEmotion is started. Software costs are reduced / optimized. Updating to new license version (new major IPEmotion release) is handled centrally by IT department. Disadvantage: This technology only works when the PC has connection to the license server. No offline / off company network operation possible.

IPEmotion License Management Overview16 V1.2 Details about FlexNet Server ‣ The FlexNet server consists of four small programs. ‣ No large computing power is required. ‣ Server ensures that the system operates 24/7 and is managed by the IT department. ‣ The license server should be accessible from any computer in the company or at least for any user working with IPEmotion.

IPEmotion License Management Overview17 V1.2 #1 – getting Server Host-ID & Name ‣ The IT system admin should copy the four programs to a server directory. ‣ Execute the lmhostid.exe of command line in order to identify the Server Host-ID. ‣ IPETRONIK needs to know the computer name. ‣ The Host-ID and Server computer name is provided to IPE.

IPEmotion License Management Overview20 V1.2 #4 – How users can get licenses ‣ Users will need activation key, server name, edition type and information about the maximum borrowing duration to fetch a license from the server. Note: ‣ The server can host many different editions (.LIC files) with different borrowing durations. ‣ Depending on the selected activation key, different editions can be accessed on the server.

IPEmotion License Management Overview21 V1.2 Example – Borrow License ‣ User enters activation key to the license dialog #1 Enter the server license activation key to retrieve a specific edition. #2 With the GET button you can connect to your server and define the duration if it is a Borrow license. Here you can see which product you are going to get from the server.

IPEmotion License Management Overview22 V1.2 ‣ The maximum borrowing duration is currently set to 1 year by default. ‣ When the.LIC file has a shorter borrowing period defined, an error message is returned to IPEmotion to ask the user to select an earlier end date. ‣ In this case the users should change the borrowing period end date into a valid one. ‣ In the footer line IPEmotion indicates the remaining borrowing time in days until the license expires.
