Eye Protection – Safety glasses, side shields Tied-back long hair Avoid loose fitted clothing Hearing Protection Hand Protection – Wear gloves when handling hot materials and chemicals Foot Protection – Close toed shoes

PPE Fire Extinguisher First Aid Kit Keep areas properly ventilated Emergency Contact Binder No running/horseplay Be respectful to others who use the workshop – Team Members – Mentors – Shop Members

Use if: – It is in good condition – There is a hard surface – You know how to use it correctly (wrench ≠ hammer, cut away from you) Always remove rings, watches, necklaces, and the like before working with any tool

Plan before you use – Mentor must be present – Good Condition – Know how to use the tool Stay focused – Don’t get distracted or distract others when using the tools – Do not leave a tool unattended while it is on Turn off and unplug when finished Store safely

Don’t put your hands in the robot while it’s on Don’t work on the robot if it’s on an unstable surface Let out compressed air, relieve other sources of energy, turn off robot, and unplug the battery before working on it Have people stand back before it’s powered on Don’t drive too close to people Notify people before enabling

Wear gloves 3 person job Robot is turned off Make sure nobody’s working on the robot Communicate Lift with your legs, not with your back Don’t twist; if you have to turn, then turn with your feet Before moving the robot, make sure everyone knows where it’s going

Strong acid (H2 SO4 ) – Corrosive – Colorless – Burns skin, eyes, clothing Do not use a dropped battery When in doubt, don’t use it Pick up batteries by their case Leaks/Explodes – Battery disposal kit – Notify mentor and safety captain

Accident? --> Mentor and Safety Captain Not safe?--> Safety Captain Broken tool?--> Safety Captain When in doubt of the safety of a situation, ask Before doing anything, always plan ahead
